Hummingbirds have always been a favorite creature of mine..... There are 366 species of hummingbirds all over the world, sipping nectar from flowers, and flitting around like winged jewels! My mother would hang giant baskets of fuchsia on the porch, and it was always a treat when the hummingbirds would come to visit.
I selected this piece in an experimental attempt to capture movement in pen and ink..... rather than using lines to draw feathers, I opted for stippling to highlight or deepen shadows.
